Sir Siminalayi Fubara

Siminalayi Fubara currently serves as the vice-chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, succeeding Okezie Ikpeazu in June 2023, who previously held the position and served as the governor of Abia State.

Born on January 28, 1975, in Opobo Town, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State, he is an accountant and technocrat who ascended to the role of Accountant General of Rivers State.

Named “Siminalayi” at birth, which means “the poor may beget the rich” in the Opobo-Ibani dialect, he is the second of five children born to Joseph and Love Fubara, both descendants of the Fubara and Jaja families of Opobo Town.

Fubara’s civil service journey began in 2003 as a classroom teacher with the Rivers State Post-Primary Schools Board, followed by various promotions until his appointment as Accountant General in 2020.

He holds a Master of Science Degree in Finance, a Master of Business Administration, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting. His professional affiliations include FNIM, FCNA, and FCTI.

Politically, Fubara is a staunch democrat and active member of the PDP in Rivers State, with a strong focus on grassroots involvement. He is also deeply involved in the Anglican Church, honored as a Knight of Saint Christopher for his service.

Fubara is married to Valerie Fubara, and they have three children.
