Bayelsa Ravaging Flood: Gov. Diri Visits Communities in Southern Ijaw LGA

.... donates cash gifts, empathizes with victims

Bayelsa Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again visited several flood-affected communities in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state to empathize with victims of this year's flood that has ravaged the entire state.

The Governor also gave cash gifts ranging from N1 Million to N3 Million to the communities he visited such as Korokorosei, Olugbobiri, Igbomotoru, Peremabiri, Ekowe, Opuama and Enewari.

Governor Diri was accompanied by his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, a representative of the United Nations, the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Abraham Ingobere, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Solomon Agwana, PDP Senatorial Candidate for Bayelsa Central, Rt. Hon. Konbowei Benson, the PDP Caucus Chairman of Southern Ijaw LGA, Hon. Talford Ongolo, and other top government functionaries. 

"We came as your government to see you, and see how you are living on top of the water, and we have seen the level of damage, but I'm glad to see the resilient spirit of the Ijaw man showing even in this our trying times. We are a happy people, and we have not allowed this disaster to weigh our spirit down."

"I empathize with you, and I'm sure that even this too shall pass, and we shall keep moving forward. The Post Flood Committee headed by the Deputy Governor will come again and all other places ravaged by the flood to provide succour", the Governor said. #bayelsa
